Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold announced her campaign for attorney general on Monday—after Attorney General Phil Weiser said he is running for governor—and said she will fight for working- and middle-class Coloradans while protecting rights and natural resources.

Ticks are active in spring and early summer in local brushy areas and the Rocky Mountain wood tick is the most common species that bites people and pets, causing symptoms similar to the flu from Colorado tick fever.

Residents are advised to check themselves and their pets after outdoor activities and use approved repellents (such as DEET) along with proper tick removal methods to lower the risk of illness.
