Good morning, Loveland.
Colorado Search and Rescue Association explained that volunteer teams statewide sometimes lack enough trained members or proper equipment (which may lead to arranging backup) as call volumes increase.
The Garden In A Box program offers Colorado homeowners kits that let them swap thirsty lawns for water-saving landscapes by including up to 29 perennial plants and a step-by-step guide.
The program has saved about 5,000 gallons per yard per year and has distributed over 83,000 kits—helping reduce water use during the ongoing drought.
Two bull elk remain in Fort Collins this summer and have been seen near the Lincoln Center and Edora Park.
Wildlife officials say the elk are leftovers from the herd that winters in Loveland — and they urge people to keep their distance.
