  • Loveland police are investigating alleged threats reported against about 50 Thompson Valley High School students who walked out to protest gun violence on Sept. 15+ school officials have increased security today as they monitor safety during ongoing student walkouts.  The Coloradoan

HEALTH NEWS

  • Larimer County had the highest number of West Nile virus cases in humans in Colorado—officials are working to control the spread.  The Coloradoan
  • Health officials in Larimer County announced that a rare strain of St. Louis encephalitis virus was found in a mosquito pool in northeast Fort Collins on Sept.15 by Gregory D. Ebel during routine testing; no human cases have been reported since 2003 and there is no vaccine or treatment available. Residents are urged to apply EPA-registered insect repellent and wear long sleeves—steps that help reduce mosquito bites.  The Coloradoan
